Each year during the National ACS Fall meeting,
a gala is held in honor of the achievements and activities of local sections.
ChemLuminary Awards are given to those local organizations, committees
and volunteers who have achieved excellence in their activities and accomplishments
throughout the year. |
2005: Outstanding Local Section Younger Chemists Committee EventThe NSYCC was honored for its efforts in organizing the Northeast Chemistry Career Fair The NSCCF affords younger chemists the opportunity to discuss employment and network with representatives from companies in the Northeastern region. The Fair also provides attendees with free workshops on skills necessary to attaining a job. |

2003: Outstanding Local Section Younger Chemists Committee EventThe NSYCC was honored for its efforts in organizing the second annual exchange between the German Younger Chemists Committee (Jungchemikerforum) and the Northeastern Section YCC that took place in 2002. Twelve students from the Boston area traveled to Cologne and Aachen to take part in a networking program and student research conference. |

2002: Outstanding Local Section Younger Chemists Committee EventThe NSYCC was honored for organizing the first exchange between the German Younger Chemists Committee (Jungchemikerforum) and the Northeastern Section YCC that took place in 2001. Twelve students from Germany traveled to Boston for a week of science, networking and fun. The German students took part in the 2001 Northeast Student Chemistry Research Conference (NSCRC), also organized by the NSYCC. 2001: Most Creative Local Section Younger Chemists Committee EventThe Northeastern LSYCC won this prize for its 2000 National Chemistry Week Program at the Boston Museum of Science. The event was attended by hundreds of children from pre-K to high school. All participants received a yellow booklet, entitled Chemistry Connections, which was designed for participants to record information while they traveled through the museum’s exhibits. The program was publicized by flyers and the website was targeted to local grade schools and high schools. |

2000: Outstanding Local Section Younger Chemists Committee EventThe section's YCC members organized the 1999 Northeastern Student Chemistry Resarch Conference and hosted a meeting to introduce attendees to YCC and ACS in 1999. |
